Cloud Services Outsourcing

We've placed over 500 offshore engineers into cloud roles since 2019. 70% of our clients hire a second one within six months. That tells you something: when you get the hiring right, the work gets done, costs drop, and your team stops firefighting production issues at 3am.

Cloud services outsourcing isn't new. It's also not a buzzword play. It's hiring skilled people offshore to manage your infrastructure, build your applications, and handle the technical debt you don't have time for. Done right, it works. Done wrong, it costs you.

What is Cloud Services Outsourcing?

You contract an external team to manage your cloud infrastructure, databases, deployments, security hardening, and application development. They own the IaaS layer (AWS, Azure, GCP), build on PaaS, and sometimes handle SaaS operations. Basically: you stop maintaining servers in-house and pay people who do that for a living.

Why It Actually Matters

Three reasons:

  • Cost. Your Australian DevOps engineer costs $120–150/hour loaded. A skilled Clark-based engineer runs $18–25/hour, certified AWS or Azure included. Same work, different zip code. That's not undercutting—it's arbitrage.
  • You don't have to hire full-time. Outsource infrastructure, security audits, or database tuning without building a permanent team. Hire them part-time, project-based, or ongoing. Scales down when you don't need it.
  • Your in-house team stops drowning. Your local engineers focus on product. The offshore team runs deployments, monitors alerts, patches systems, handles disaster recovery. Everyone wins.

The market agrees: cloud spend is hitting $1.5 trillion by 2026 (Gartner). But that doesn't matter unless your team has bandwidth to actually use it.

What the Outsourced Team Actually Does

  • Infrastructure Setup & Management: VPCs, load balancers, auto-scaling groups, RDS, Lambda. They configure it right the first time or debug why your prod is on fire.
  • Application Deployment: CI/CD pipelines, containerisation, Kubernetes, managed services. Deploy daily without sweating.
  • Security & Compliance: IAM policies, SSL certificates, network segmentation, penetration testing, compliance audits (ISO 27001, SOC 2). Insurance companies and regulators sleep better.
  • Database Administration: Backups, replication, failover, query optimization, migration planning. Your data doesn't disappear.
  • Monitoring & On-Call Support: CloudWatch, DataDog, PagerDuty. They own the alerts. You sleep.

How to Actually Hire for This

  • Define the scope first. Are you hiring for infrastructure only? Or do you need full-stack developers? Or security-focused roles? Know what you're buying before you start shopping.
  • Check certifications and real work. AWS Solutions Architect, AZ-104 (Azure Admin), Kubernetes CKAD. Ask for a GitHub repo or a war story. Don't trust the CV alone—have them solve a problem in your stack.
  • Test timezone overlap. Philippines is UTC+8. Your Sydney or Melbourne team is UTC+10. That's 2-4 hours overlap. Use it for handoffs and escalations. It works.
  • Cultural fit matters less than competence. Hire for technical chops first. An engineer who ships code on time beats a "great culture fit" who ships bugs. Communication is a skill, not a personality trait.
  • Security standards are non-negotiable. ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II, background checks through NBI (National Bureau of Investigation in the Philippines). Don't cheap out. One breach costs more than a year of salaries.
  • Start with one person, not a team. Hire one senior engineer, let them prove themselves, then scale. Easier to add when it works than to fire a whole team when it doesn't.

Cost Breakdown

  • Senior Cloud Architect (AWS/GCP certified): $22–30/hour
  • Full-Stack Developer (Node, React, cloud-native): $18–24/hour
  • DevOps Engineer (CI/CD, Kubernetes, IaC): $20–28/hour
  • Security/Compliance Specialist: $24–32/hour

Add 13th month pay (mandatory in the Philippines), benefits, NBI clearances, and occasional training. Total cost is still 60–70% less than Sydney or San Francisco. Quality doesn't drop—it's the same person, lower overhead.

Hidden savings: you don't pay for office space, equipment, or payroll tax overhead. Outsourced contractors handle their own infrastructure.

Why the Philippines Actually Works

  • IT talent is real here. University of the Philippines, DLSU, Mapua pump out computer science graduates yearly. Many worked at GCash, Grab, Globe before going freelance or joining outsourcing firms.
  • English is functional. Not poetry, but technical documentation, Slack, code reviews—no problem. Ask them to explain a database schema and you'll understand it.
  • Timezone is your friend. Morning standup in Melbourne, hand off to the Clark team by afternoon. They work your evening, ship by morning. Continuous cycle.
  • Lower cost of living = lower rates, not lower quality. A $25/hour engineer in Clark lives well. In Sydney, they'd need $100+. Same person, different economy.
  • They've done this before. Outsourcing isn't exotic here. Clark Freeport alone has 2000+ tech companies. It's a proven supply chain, not an experiment.
